Thankful for Third Man

black Friday is an excuse to go out and buy a bunch of stuff that people think is really cheap but really it's like 10% off.  however, my black Friday was probably more exciting than most because i got to go to the grand opening of Third Man Records Cass Corridor in Detroit. mom and i waited in the rain for 3 hours and it was so, so good because i eventually got in, saw Jack White in the flesh and was able to cop a limited edition poster that is stunning.
to be a part of something so legendary will be a memory i hold special forever.
cherish those little memories because those memories will turn into stories you tell for years.
& when you wait in line for hours STAY IN LINE because if you leave you may never see your favorite artist in your favorite place.

best mom award to the lady in the red shoes

then i hopped in a car to road trip to a random motel in Indiana with some of my favorite ladies to go to a bridal shower.  small town adventures are good too.

Jesus Loving Feminist

the other day i was listening to a podcast, my newest obsession, by Lena Dunham that discusses feminist views and living life as a woman.  this particular episode was on body image and it was a great listen; however, as i was listening to the women of different backgrounds, from a transgender to a blind woman, speaking on the show i thought to myself, "where's the christian woman?"  so much of what was said on the podcast was encouraging, inspiring and could appeal greatly to all women facing different challenges with their body image but there was no one representing a Christian world view.  my heart broke for young girls today because they don't get to see a woman in popular culture saying it's ok to keep your virginity sacred, that you don't have to experiment with your sexual identity to be confident  and you don't have to mess with drugs and alcohol to find your true self.  all voices need to be heard but sometimes you have to scream for people to notice and it looks like us Jesus loving feminists need to stand on mountains and atop builidngs for people to hear us and appreciate what we have to say.

so let me say...

be who you are, be independent, be strong-willed, break boundaries, change the world and love Jesus

i am a feminist and i love Jesus
i will fight for equality, i will embrace independence and i will celebrate my femininity all with Jesus Christ directing my steps

now on a different note
today i wore a "found" grey turtleneck with a thrifted denim button-up over top, black Forever 21 trousers and Vera Wang booties
accessorized with gold, baby hoops and a leopard print gold watch
